Restomods In Reno Can Be Called The Biggest Little Car Show In The Biggest Little City In The World

If Las Vegas has a cousin, it is surely Reno, Nevada. The "Biggest Little City in the World" is an extraordinary place to visit and live, well away from the lights of Las Vegas and just a short distance from Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. A gambling town to be sure, Reno is also a metropolis surrounded by wonderfulness.

When Ron Bramlett of Mustangs Plus was developing the Restomods In Reno show many years ago, the original plan wasn't Reno at all. Ron wanted to host an annual restomod event somewhere in the American West, so he considered Las Vegas, his hometown of Stockton, California, and metropolitan areas like Los Angeles and San Francisco. Thoughts eventually vectored to Reno for its location along Interstate 80 and US 395 and excellent entertainment attractions. For the first two years, Restomods In Reno was held at the Reno Hilton in the middle of town.

When the Reno Hilton became resort condominiums, Restomods In Reno moved to a new location at the Atlantis across town. It also grooved into the capable hands of the Reno Mustang Car Club with Mustangs Plus as a sponsor and mentor. This year was the Reno club's second year hosting the event. One important decision affecting this show was the move from Memorial Day weekend to the middle of June to minimize weather issues, which have included rain and even snow in the past. Aside from a couple of passing rain showers, Reno dodged the bullet for a successful show.

The Reno Mustang Car Club, founded in 1982, makes everyone feel welcome with their spirit of family, which makes people want to come back. There isn't the heavy pressure of judging and having to be something you are not. Once you attend this event, you will put a mark on your calendar for next year because it's something you're not going to want to miss. Restomods In Reno isn't just a lawn chair style car show. It also features a Pony Trails where the daring saddle up and cruise to local venues like Virginia City and breathtaking Lake Tahoe. This year, the Pony Trails was paced by a Bob Bondurant car clad in bright orange for the Fernley Race Track Run followed by a cruise over the mountains to Lake Tahoe, making this anything but a traditional show and shine. As the Reno Mustang Car Club massages its approach to a terrific car show, expect even better things to come. Plans are in place for Saturday night entertainment and more vendors for 2010.

Ron Wheeler of the Reno Mustang Car Club tells us they intend to host Restomods In Reno 2010 on June 11-13, so make your plans now to attend the biggest little car show in the biggest little city in the world.
